REV. JOSEPH "JOEY" PUSATERI
Joey Pusateri is an ordained Disciples of Christ minister, having earned his Master of Divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary. He is also a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, IN (BA, Comparative Literature). Before responding to the call of ministry, Joey worked in sales, marketing, project planning and leadership. He served Middletown Christian Church and Simpsonville Christian Church before accepting the call to First Christian Church in Danville. He has been recognized for excellence in preaching by various organizations and is frequently asked to share his powerful and passionate messages as a guest preacher. Joey believes the hope available to us from God in Christ is sufficient to sustain life, powerful enough to change the world, and the birthright of every human being. He envisions congregations and communities revitalized and transformed by that hope, and he commits himself to the realization of that vision through preaching, teaching, and leading. Joey is optimistic about the future of the church, knowing that anything that belongs to the God of the resurrection is never in peril of extinction. It is his great joy to serve that church as a disciple of Jesus. Joey’s wife, Jennifer, is a UDL (Universal Design for Learning) specialist and a PhD student at the University of Kentucky. They have two daughters: Kira and Sadie.
REV. CATHERINE DEMOSS
Catherine DeMoss earned her Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School in 2018 and was ordained shortly after in her home church, First Christian in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Catherine finds that her call was one that has always been there, in the background, whispering in her ear. She grew up very involved in the church, serving on committees and in worship from an early age. Through this, as well as active participation in church camp and other Disciples programs, she found herself naturally falling into leadership roles and actively being a church leader. While recognition of this call did not come for quite some time, looking back, she can see it’s thread running throughout much of her life. In addition to her Masters, Catherine holds a Bachelors from Transylvania University in Psychology and Educational Studies. Outside of academic pursuits, she has a passion for adventure and the outdoors, evident in her participation in the program, Bike and Build, in the summer of 2016 where she cycled with a team from the coast of Virginia to the coast of Oregon to advocate for the importance of affordable housing. Catherine notes that she has always felt a sense of the Divine outside. From early in her life she felt most connected to God while at camp or galavanting around her grandparents farm in Western Kentucky. Cycling, hiking, and other outdoor activities further affirm this connection and Catherine notes a passion to help others find Spiritual connection in new ways.
