Food for the Soul
Food for the Soul started out of a need we saw in our own congregation. Many shut-ins live alone and seem to find it difficult to make a full nutritious meal for themselves. At the time we held our Wednesday Night Alive dinners and decided to share food from those meals with our shut-ins. They expressed appreciation for both the food and the visit, and the volunteers felt blessed. The program grew; each Wednesday we now serve about 15 of our shut-ins a delicious hot meal prepared by and delivered by FCC volunteers. Some of the elderly we serve say it's the best mission we do in the church. This simple weekly act of giving lets our shut-ins know that we care for them. Their church family feeds not only their stomachs, but also their souls.
